Snow started falling early Wednesday morning in what the weather service could be a daylong snowfall, with a total winding up as much as 5 inches. Schools are closed. Recycling pickup cancelled. Garbage pickup will be slow.

Evening ferry runs to continue

The Guemes Island ferry will continue the weekday evening runs that the county started as a test two years ago. But, the weekday runs will end at 8:30 instead of the current 10 pm.

More snow is in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow as temperatures keep us in a deep freeze. Burlington airport recorded a low of 19 degrees this morning and a high yesterday of 28.

The City Council has okayed revisions to the city’s development regulations, but postponed a decision on large-scale retail development in the commercial marine zone south of Cap Sante Marina and east of Q and R avenues.

Schools to start late Tuesday
