Major water plant upgrade ahead

The Samish Indian Nation unveiled a healing totem pole Saturday in a 2 hour ceremony at the Samish-owned Fidalgo Bay Resort & RV Park. One small hitch: as the pole was being unwrapped, one of the blankets caught on an edge and a aerial bucket vehicle had be used to unsag the blanket.

State gives Huckleberry Is. to Samish

The state has agreed to transfer ownership of Huckleberry Island, just east of Guemes island, to the Samish Island Nation. The state Parks and Recreation Commission approved the transfer this week.
