The Farmers Market had moved entirely onto R Ave for a few weekends to allow the city to convert the gravel-covered area into a pervious paved area made up of bricks with fine gravel in between. The worm was done by R.J. Lampers of Snohomish to create a multi-use area of about 3,600 square feet.
The project cost the city $61,000, well under the original estimate of $90,000. Funding was provided by a federal Surface Transportation Program grant. The city is looking for grants to expand the place further to the east, then to the south behind the Depot building.
