Here are some of the other cases Anacortes Police worked this week.
Friday, July 16
A resident in the 1200 block of “B”Ave. reported that 3 ladders valued at a $1,000 total were taken from behind his house in the past three weeks. Two ladders were aluminum, one 12’ and the other 24’ extension ladders. A 24’ orange fiberglass extension ladder was also missing. All three ladders are marked with the initials A.C.L.
A resident in the 2000 block of “N” Ave. reported that someone entered his unlocked residence overnight while he slept and took his prescription medication and some cash.
A vacant house on Terrence Dr. was broken into and a Springfield military rifle, a Damascus double barreled shotgun, a handgun and television were taken. Total loss was over $1,300.
Police arrested a 49-year-old man for DUI after they were summoned to his residence in the 1500 block of 15th for a reported domestic argument. While en route officers were advised that the man had left in a vehicle. Officers spotted the car eastbound on SR 20. The car stopped at Sharpes Corner and the man exited the vehicle and contacted the officer. The officer observed the man showed signs of alcohol consumption and had left his car unoccupied and running in a lane of travel. He was arrested for DUI and taken to the Police Department for a BAC.
Police responded to a fight outside of a private club in the 1000 block of 7th St. Witnesses said that a 52-year-old man had shoved his 53-year-old girlfriend during an argument outside of the club. The man was contacted several blocks away and arrested.
Saturday, June 17
A 29-year-old Anacortes woman was arrested for assault 4th Domestic Violence PA after she allegedly lured her ex-boyfriend to her apartment to retrieve his cell phone and other belongings and then assaulted him by striking him in the face.
Two men in their 20’s were cited for drinking alcohol in the Anacortes Forest Land. The men were in the area of Whistle Lake known as the “Cliffs” when an officer observed them drinking alcohol. Officers have stepped up their patrols of the forestland as the summer weather has improved.
Sunday, July 18
A 22-year-old Anacortes man was arrested for DUI, possession of a small amount of marijuana, and marijuana paraphernalia after an officer stopped the car the man was driving for a minor violation. On contacting the driver the officer smelled marijuana and the driver admitted he had been drinking. The man was arrested and taken to the Police Department for a BAC.
A resident in the 1200 block of 6th St. reported that about $30 worth of gasoline had been siphoned from a car parked in front of the residence in the last few days. In addition some old items (no description given) had been taken from the yard area.
A visitor to Anacortes reported that the bicycle he had ridden up from Portland had been stolen overnight. The bike had been chain locked to the downspout of a building located in the 1000 block of Railroad Ave. It is described as a silver 21-speed KHS touring bicycle valued at $800.
Monday, July 19
A car left unlocked at the Cap Sante Lookout was reported prowled and an Alpine car stereo valued at $200 was taken.
Tuesday, July 20
A man reported his 15HP Yamaha outboard was taken from a dingy on his boat, at a west end marina. The theft occurred within the last three days. The value of the motor is $2,400.
Six Whidbey Island teens were arrested for minor consuming alcohol and consuming alcohol in the forestlands after other patron’s complained of their obnoxious behavior.
Wednesday, July 21
A small girl’s blue and turquoise bike was taken from the 1900 block of 24th St. sometime in the last several weeks. The bike is valued at $50.
A 34-year-old Anacortes woman was arrested for DUI after another motorist called 911 to report her erratic driving. An officer caught up with the vehicle on SR at Marches Pt. and also observed the car was weaving in and out of the lane of travel. The woman was arrested and transported to Island Hospital for a blood alcohol test.
A 27-year-old Anacortes man was arrested for disorderly conduct and obstructing a public servant after officers responded to a call from a local establishment in the 300 block of Commercial Ave. Reportedly the man had urinated in the outdoor eating area of the establishment. Officers located the man in another establishment, and the man ran away when officers tried to contact him. Officers gave chase; the man was caught and arrested.
Friday, July 23
A 21-year-old Anacortes man was hospitalized after the 1972 Chevrolet truck he was driving left the roadway in the 900 block of 29th St. and struck a house. Witnesses said the man was traveling at a high speed and appeared to be chasing another vehicle when the crash occurred. Police obtained a blood alcohol test at the hospital and are investigating the incident at a DUI.
