Inslee tours water treatment plant

The recently-completed $56-million facility includes design features to protect vital machinery and electronics from flooding, something that was missing in the old treatment plant. In addition, the new plant includes an improved filtration system designed to handle projected increases in Skagit River’s sediment.

Inslee said “It’s really refreshing to see a local community just making practical, common sense, scientifically engineering-driven decisions rather than ideological issues.” He said the plant is an inspiring example of how to focus on science, referring to studies forecasting more rain and less snowfall and impacts on the river flow.
