As in past years, the Anacortes Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the League of Women Voters and AAUW to bring you a candidates forum. The event will bring together Mayoral, City Council, Port Commission, School District, and Pool Commission candidates in a Q&A format, using questions from the audience. Chamber director Mitch Everton will be moderating. The Forum is scheduled for Wednesday evening, October 7. There will be a “meet & greet” from 5:30-6:00 p.m. The forum will take place from 6:00-10:00 p.m.
Candidates’ Presentations: The Chamber will be hosting the candidates at a luncheon on Thursday, October 8, from 11:30-1:00 at the Lutheran Church (22nd & O Streets). Each candidate will be given a set amount of time to present their qualifications, followed by a short Q&A from the audience. Cost of the luncheon is $20.00. Reserve your space by contacting the Chamber office (293-7911).
Mayoral Debate: The Chamber is again partnering with the League and AAUW. The mayoral debate will feature the two candidates over 90 minutes at Brodniak Hall the evening of October 8. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The debate will be held from 7:00-8:30 p.m. and will be moderated by Erin Good, the high school debate coach. Questions from the audience will be read by members of the debate team.
This is a great opportunity to familiarize yourself with the candidates and their positions.
