Anacortes Police had to take a police cruiser out of service after a suspect kicked out a window after he was placed in the police car.
High winds blew through Anacortes Saturday afternoon and evening, causing scattered power outages. The high wind seemed to peak around 3pm, with a gust of 37 miles per hour recorded at 2:50 pm at Skagit Airport in Burlington.

Shoppers were lined up at the Moondance Farms booth at Saturday's Farmers Market, the next-to-last of this season, despite a weather forecast that called for rain and wind. In fact, the day started out sunny with a temperature around 60 degrees.
Three books by Northwest authors are on this week's Northwest Bestsellers list. Brisinger, the third volume by Christopher Paolini tops the Children's list. Eragon, Paolini's first book, is also on the Children's list. And, The Art of Racing in the Rain, by Garth Stein, is on the Hardcover Fiction list again. This heartwarming book has been on the list for most of the summer.
The Washington State Liquor Control Board has selected the Anacortes Food Pavilion to participate in a yearlong pilot program that allows on-premise wine and beer tastings, starting October 1, in a limited number of stores.
