It looks like Guemes Island residents will lose their only cable TV service soon. In a recent letter to subscribers, Index Cable announced that they "will be closing down the system, including the cable Internet access, at the end of the year."

Homes continue to sell in Anacortes. The number of homes sold edged up in September over a year ago. Prices were also up, but homes took twice as long, on average, to sell.
Former City Council member Terry Christiansen wants the city to keep a tight budget next year and not raise the property tax rate. He was one of only two people to testify Monday night on next year's city budget.
