A small kitchen fire prompted the evacuation of The Market at Anacortes, formerly known as Food Pavillion.

With retailers hurting as shoppers spend less, one Anacortes retailer is planning a major expansion less than five years after opening its doors.

An employee of a gas station in the 1300 block of Commercial Avenue last week reported a “gas and go” in which an older Jeep style vehicle had left without paying for approximately $35 in gas.

Post office box holders have started contacting police about last weekend’s break-in of around 20 post office boxes.  

Someone stole mail from about 20 Anacortes post office boxes over last weekend. Police don’t know how much mail was stolen and there are no suspects.
