
An Anacortes Police Officer booked a driver on reckless driving and DUI after clocking their vehicle at 100 miles per hour.

An Anacortes man stated that he had received a scam phone call from someone claiming to be a deputy from the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office, who said he had missed jury duty and that there would be a warrant out for his arrest if he did not address the matter. The responding officer confirmed that he did not have a warrant and advised that this is a common scam and to not provide any personal information to the caller.

There was a report of a female walking in the roadway near Commercial Avenue and 24th Street. The responding officer spoke to the woman, who advised that she did not like walking on the sidewalk, as the roadway is flatter. She advised that she was watching out for traffic.

An Anacortes woman reported that she walked her dog at the same time as her neighbor, whose dog growled at her.

There was an anonymous report of screaming and yelling for about 30 minutes in the 800 block of 24th Street. Officers contacted a woman who advised that her children refused to go to bed and she yelled at them. She noted that the children refusing to go to bed is a daily occurrence. She also advised that nothing physical had occurred.
An officer was dispatched to a reported tree blocking both lanes of traffic somewhere on Christianson Road. The officer arrived and found the tree blocking the road near the intersection of Driver and Christianson roads in Skagit County Sheriff’s Office jurisdiction. The officer notified dispatch that the northbound lane was blocked and would require a chainsaw. The officer cleared the southbound lane and placed flares south of the tree. Dispatch told the SCSO, and a Skagit County utilities truck soon arrived to clear the roadway.

An officer observed a vehicle pass another vehicle abruptly and take off at a high rate of speed on Highway 20. The officer clocked the vehicle via radar traveling at 100 miles per hour in a 55 miles-per-hour zone. The officer pulled the car over and conducted a traffic stop. The officer could smell a faint odor of intoxicants emitting from the driver’s breath while arresting him for reckless driving. The officer also noted that his eyes were bloodshot and watery. After performing standard field sobriety tests and an evidentiary breath test, the officer ultimately booked the man for reckless driving and DUI.

A resident in the 2000 block of K Avenue called and was concerned about an abandoned car. The responding officer checked the car and found it was registered to the address it was parked in front of. The officer called the reporting party to let him know that the car belongs to his neighbor.
