Police Beat

A Guemes Island resident found the nude body of an unidentified woman floating near the northeast tip of Guemes Island on Friday evening.

The Skagit County Sheriff’s Office says the victim was believed to be between 25 and 35 years old. She was wearing only a silver cross necklace and a navel ring. And, the Sheriff’s Office said they don’t know who she is, but they said she is not the 19-year-old diver who went missing near Deception Pass last week.

The victim was described as light-skinned, 5-foot-5-inches tall and weighs 130 pounds with reddish-brown shoulder-length hair and matching tatooed eyebrows.

The Coroner’s Office said they failed to determine a cause of death after an autopsy, which was performed on Saturday. Toxicology and other lab tests are under way, but the results could take four to six weeks.

The Sheriff’s Office has released their information to other law enforcement agencies in the hopes someone will recognize the victim’s description.
