Police Blotter, Nov. 29 - Dec. 5, 2013

A 27-year-old Anacortes woman is under arrest for trafficking in stolen property and other arrests are expected after a man who was house-sitting in the 1400 block of 26th reported that the house had been broken into. He suspected a woman whom he had met on a social media site had been involved. He explained he had met the woman via a dating site several weeks ago. Sunday night (Dec. 1) he had her over and left her alone while he was took a shower, then gave her a ride to her friend’s home. The next morning she called him and wanted to get together. She asked him to pick her up, but when he arrived at the agreed upon location she was not there.  He returned to the house where he was house-sitting to find the house had been entered and about $6,000 in jewelry taken. Officers learned that the woman sold some of the jewelry at a downtown shop and they were able to recover a small amount of it. The woman was arrested on Wednesday, Dec. 4 and is in the Skagit County Jail while officers follow-up on additional leads.

Friday, Nov. 29

7:00 pm.  A woman in the 1100 block of 29th reported to officers that her 18-year-old brother had come to her apartment two hours earlier and asked if he could stay there. When she said he could not, the man became upset and ripped down a picture on the wall and punched a whole in the drywall prior to leaving. Officers were not able to immediately locate the man, so he will be referred to the court on charges of malicious mischief domestic violence.

Saturday, Nov. 30

12:00 am.  A 27-year-old Anacortes woman was booked and released on two misdemeanor warrants after she summoned police to the 1200 block of 4th St. where she claimed she was assaulted. Officers reported the woman was very intoxicated, entered the home where she knew the people present and began using vulgar language and insulting them. She grabbed one man by his beard and pulled a piece of it out before he pushed her out of the residence. Once outside she phoned the police. The man did not want to press charges against the woman, so after she was booked and released on her warrants she was dropped off at a friend’s home.  

1:29 am.  An officer on routine patrol stopped a pick up truck for speeding and driving erratically in the 1900 block of 32nd St. The 27-year-old male driver failed sobriety tests, and refused a blood alcohol test. As it was the driver’s second DUI he was booked into the Skagit County Jail.

8:53 pm.  A 51-year-old Anacortes man refused medical treatment after he walked into the side of a car that was exiting a parking lot in the 1300 block of Commercial Ave. Witnesses said the car was moving slowly as it was exiting the lot.  The man was walking southbound on the sidewalk and walked into the passenger side of the vehicle.  Officer’s believe the man was intoxicated.

10:31 pm.  A 25-year-old Sedro-Woolley woman was arrested for DUI after witnesses told officers that it appeared she was texting while driving and struck the car in front of her as she turned southbound on SR 20 at Sharpes Corner. The officer observed that the woman was stumbling and appeared intoxicated. After failing physical sobriety tests, the woman was arrested and taken to the police department for a blood alcohol test. She was cited and released to her father.

Sunday, Dec. 1

10:55 am.  A 23-year-old Anacortes man reported his truck was entered overnight as it was parked in the 6000 block of Sands Way. The face plate to the stereo and the man’s employee badge were stolen. Entry was gained through a broken window that had been previously been broken.

Tuesday, Dec. 3

8:51 am.  A red 3500 psi gas-powered pressure washer was stolen from behind a business in the 400 block of Commercial Ave. overnight. The pressure washer was inadvertently left outside overnight.

Wednesday, Dec. 4

12:32 pm.  A man came into the Police Department to recover some tools that a friend of his had on his person at the time of his arrest a week ago. However, the man also recovered a keepsake watch valued at $13,000 that he did not know was in his friend’s possession. He told detectives that he believes his friend also stole a laptop computer and a platinum wedding band from him.  The 27-year-old suspect is already in jail on burglary charges and detectives will now be filing additional theft charges as well.

Thursday, Dec. 5

12:47 pm. Another car was reported prowled in the 6000 block of Sands Way. A gear shift and CD stereo were taken. It is unknown how access to the car was gained. The car had been parked for approximately two weeks in the same location.

2:50 pm. A residence in the 1800 block of 22nd St. was broken into overnight while the occupants were away. A 9mm handgun, stack safe, and two expensive watches were taken. The resident gave officers the names of several possible suspects.

3:34 pm.  A 61-year-old White Salmon man was arrested for shoplifting $143.00 worth of groceries from a store in the 900 block of 11th St. Later in the evening officers returned to the store after a bottle of liquor was taken. The female suspect left the store and officers are still trying to identify her.

11:20 pm.  A 52-year-old Anacortes woman was arrested for assault 4th degree domestic violence after officers responded to domestic disturbance in the 1900 block of 11th St. The woman’s 32-year-old son and his wife both claimed to have been struck by the woman during an argument. Officers reported all three appeared to be intoxicated.
