A resident in the 3200 block of Field Ave. reported a unique diamond wedding set valued at $2,400 was taken from their home sometime in the last several weeks. The woman’s yellow gold set contained numerous small diamonds with two large diamonds in heart shaped settings. The words “past, present, future” were engraved on the sides of the ring. Officers are following up with two persons of interest.
A woman reported her purse was stolen from her unlocked vehicle on the afternoon of Dec. 16. Her car was parked behind a building in the 1000 block of 30th St. while she attended a meeting near by. When she returned she discovered her “Coach” brand purse, wallet and coin purse were missing. The purse was valued at $650. Also missing was $60 in cash and various credit cards. Some of the purse’s contents were discovered a short distance away. There are no suspects.
A resident in the 1300 block of 18th St. reported a box that had been delivered to their front porch around 5 pm had been taken. The box contained a coffee table that was valued at $170.
A resident in the 2000 block of “J”Ave. reported that someone had entered their unlocked home between 5 pm and midnight and had stolen Christmas gifts from under the tree. The items missing included some dinner plates, golf balls, a socket set, some mens slacks and a belt, and some towels. All the items except the golf balls, trousers and belt were recovered a short distance from the home.
Saturday, Dec. 18
A woman in the 1100 block of 34th St. reported that her son could not locate his iPod Touch so she sent a text message to the device. When someone answered her text message she realized the device had probably been stolen. She provided a serial number and the device was entered in the state/national database as stolen property.
Police responded to a complaint of a large juvenile party at an apartment complex in the 900 block of 22nd St. On their arrival they discovered a group of young people having a party. Several of the guests were arrested for minor consuming alcohol, several adults were referred for possession of drug paraphernalia, and the 21-year-old host of the party was arrested for furnishing alcohol to minors.
Sunday, Dec. 19
Police responded to another juvenile party and arrested for individuals in the 4400 block of Glasgow Way.
Tuesday, Dec. 21
Police responded to a fight call at an establishment in the 1900 block of Commercial Ave. An officer discovered four men and two women engaged in a fist fight in the alleyway. Once the parties were separated, officers learned that the argument had erupted over high school sports. One of the men involved had an outstanding felony warrant for drug possession and was arrested. None of the parties were interested in pursuing assault charges against the others.
150 feet of copper lead wire was stolen overnight from a marine industrial area in the 3000 block of Oakes avenue. The wire was valued at $450.
An officer on routine patrol spotted a driver using a cell phone in the 1700 block of Commercial Ave. The officer pulled the vehicle and discovered the 30-year-old Anacortes man also appeared intoxicated. After failing field sobriety tests the man was arrested and taken to the police station for a blood alcohol test.
Police were summoned to a domestic disturbance in the 1000 block of 37th St. A woman told them that she and her husband had been out for the evening and had been drinking. On returning home, her husband became angry over an issue and this upset the couple’s children. The woman took the children into a bedroom, locked the door, and called the police. While calling the police the man kicked the door in and took the phone from her. The 33-year-old Anacortes man was arrested for Malicious Mischief and interfering with a report of domestic violence.
Thursday, Dec. 23
A woman reported that her car was prowled while she was inside a business in the 1700 block of Commercial Ave. She reported that her “Coach” brand leather purse containing $300 cash, credit cards, and prescription medication was taken. A shopping bag containing Christmas ornaments and candles was also taken. It was unclear if the vehicle was locked.
An officer on routine patrol noticed a 40-year-old Anacortes woman coming out of a business in the 1700 block of Commercial Ave. The woman was wanted in Burlington for theft and the officer knew the woman’s boyfriend had 5 outstanding arrest warrants including a felony warrant. As he approached the woman, she yelled at her boyfriend to run and attempted to stop the officer from chasing after him by striking the officer. She was arrested for Assault 3rd degree. A K9 unit from Skagit County was called to assist in searching for the wanted man but officers were unable to locate him.
Friday, Dec. 24
An officer on routine patrol heard what sounded like a vehicles tires squealing in the area of 17th and “Q” Ave. He then observed a Volvo station wagon coming northbound on “Q” Ave. with its four way flashers on and a flat rear passenger side tire. The vehicle was traveling at 40mph in the 25mph zone. As the officer activated his lights and sirens to stop the vehicle it sped off, reaching speeds of 60mph before coming to a stop in the middle of 9th St.. The driver, a 35-year-old Seattle man exhibited obvious signs of intoxication. He was arrested for investigation of eluding and DUI.
Saturday, Dec. 25
An officer on routine patrol early Christmas Day noticed a vehicle in the southbound in the 400 block of Commercial Ave. was weaving in its lane of travel and exceeding the 20mph speed limit. He followed the vehicle onto 12th St. and out to “D” Ave.. The officer stopped the car when the driver failed to signal a turn onto “D” Ave. The driver, a 44 -year-old Anacortes woman showed obvious signs of intoxication. The woman refused to provide field sobriety tests, was arrested and refused the blood alcohol test.
