Police were summoned to the 600 block of Hillcrest Dr. after receiving a report of a domestic disturbance on Sunday, Oct. 10. Witnesses said that a woman had called asking for assistance and that her ex-husband was keeping her in the house and not allowing her to leave. Officers attempted to talk with the woman but her 41-year-old ex-husband answered the door and told them to go away. Eventually the officers impressed upon him that they needed the woman to come outside and talk with them. Once she was outside she told them the man had pushed her, took her cell phone when she tried to call 911 and broke the mirror on her car as she had attempted to leave. As the officers were talking with the woman the man grabbed her and tried to pull her back into the house. When officers intervened the man punched an officer in the chest. The man was subdued with a Taser and was arrested for Assault 3r, Assault 4th domestic violence, malicious mischief, and interfering with making a domestic violence report.

Friday, October 8
A resident in the 2000 block of Highland Ave. reported that their mailbox had been smashed overnight. The post the box was mounted on was also broken off. Replacement value is $100.
Officers responded to a fight in the 1300 block of 24th St. Two boys, ages 15 and 12 were contacted along with numerous witnesses. The 12-year-old sustained two broken teeth and a fat lip. The fifteen-year-old complained of a sore head. Charges are pending in the case.
A motor home stored in the 8000 block of Stevenson Rd. was prowled. Nothing was taken but the door locking mechanism was destroyed. This is believed to have occurred last month as a string of motor homes were prowled inside the storage area.
Officers were summoned to an establishment in the 400 block of Commercial Ave. for assistance in removing a patron. A 36-year-old Anacortes woman had reportedly had been asked to leave as she appeared to have arrived intoxicated, was refused service, and was confrontational with the staff. The woman refused to leave and the police were called. Officers advised the woman she was not welcome in the establishment and offered to give her a ride home. The woman refused and attempted to renter the establishment. She was arrested for disorderly conduct.
Saturday, October 9
A woman in the 2300 block of 12th St. reported that she had lost a diamond ring valued at $500 sometime on October 5th. The woman reported her ring may have been stolen. Police questioned a possible suspect who denied the theft.
A resident in the 4100 block of Kingsway reported a blue Specialized bike valued at $150 sometime in the last week. The bike had been in the garage.
Police were summoned to an establishment in the 400 block of Commercial Ave. after an unruly patron assaulted 4 staff members. Reportedly the man was angry because he believed another patron had made inappropriate advances towards his wife. The man became disruptive and was asked to leave. When he was escorted out he punched one man in the nose, another in the eye, and 2 others who tried to assist in removing the man from the bar. He was arrested for 4 counts of assault 4th
A 25-year-old Burlington woman was cited for disorderly conduct after police responded twice to noise complaints in the 1200 block of 29th St. Officers could hear loud music from the road and contacted the residents and their guests in the backyard and asked them to turn the music down. They complied but the music was turned back up after officers left. Officers returned and made a second request for the music to be turned down. As they were leaving, the young woman began to shout profanities loudly. The officers returned to the back yard and cited the woman for disorderly conduct.
Sunday, October 10
A 22-year-old Seattle woman was arrested for DUI after an officer stopped the car she was driving for an equipment violation. The officer spotted the car going southbound in the 1400 block of Commercial Ave. and noticed the brake lights were not working. He contacted the woman, and observed she had signs of intoxication. After failing physical sobriety tests she was arrested and taken to the police station for a blood alcohol content test. She was released pending charges.
A 26-year-old woman was arrested for assault 4th degree domestic violence after police were summoned to the 1000 block of Longview Ave. A neighbor reported seeing a man holding an infant arguing with a woman outside of the residence. Officers discovered the two returned home after a night of drinking and when they returned home they argued. The man took the couple’s infant and attempted to leave the residence. He reported he changed his mind and locked himself in a bedroom. The woman forced her way into the room and bit the man in the arm. The woman was booked into the jail.
A 55-year-old Anacortes woman was arrested for DUI after an officer observed the vehicle she was driving swerving into oncoming traffic in the area of 12th and Commercial Ave. He stopped the vehicle in the 1200 block of “M”Ave. The driver failed physical sobriety tests and was taken to the police station for a blood alcohol test. She was cited and released to a sober adult.
A small fire was discovered in the alley of the 1000 block of 8th St. A small pile of shredded paper had been placed in the alleyway and set afire. No property was damaged.
A boating business in the 3000 block of “V” Ave discovered that someone had tried to cut the chain which secures the locked boat yard. It appeared that entry had not been made into the boatyard and nothing was reported missing.
A 51-year-old Olympia woman was cited and released for possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Customs Officers had contacted the woman after she disembarked from the Victoria ferry. They discovered the marijuana during a routine interview.
Monday, October 11
An officer on routine patrol spotted a pick up truck traveling at excessive speed (68mph in a 55mph zone) westbound on SR 20 at the City limits. The Officer stopped the truck on Commercial Ave. The driver appeared intoxicated and did not have a driver’s license. The man refused to submit to field sobriety tests or a breathalyzer test. The 27-year-old Anacortes man resisted arrest and had to be physically subdued and placed in a patrol vehicle. He had a small amount of marijuana on his person at the time of his arrest. He was charged with DUI, Driving without a Valid license, Possession of Marijuana, and Resisting Arrest.
A west end resident reported that her Olympus Digital camera was lost on 10/8 at the playground in the 6000 block of Sands Way.
A 20-year-old Anacortes man was arrested for two counts of shoplifting and possession of a small amount of marijuana after officers were called to a retail establishment in the 1500 block of Commercial Ave. The man was in possession of some stereo ear buds from the store. Officers also located some food items stolen from a nearby grocery and a small amount of marijuana on the man’s person.
A 34-year-old Anacortes woman was arrested for DUI and driving on a suspended license after an officer observed the vehicle she was driving making unsafe lane changes and drifting from the fog to center line on Commercial Ave. The woman reportedly told the officer she had no license and she was intoxicated. She refused a blood alcohol test.
Tuesday, October 12
Officers pulled an 18-year-old man from a heating duct that he had been trapped in for over 2 hours. Officers were summoned to the 2000 block of “N” Ave. after the man reported he had been trying to recover an item from the duct and became stuck.
Police received a complaint that gas was siphoned overnight from a vehicle that was parked in the 3000 block of March Point Rd. The locking gas tank was pried open causing about $300 worth of damage to the car. 5 gallons of gas valued at $16 were taken.
Officers were summoned to the 2200 block of Commercial Ave. after receiving a report that there was a possible drunk driver driving northbound from a local establishment. Officers located the vehicle pulled off to the side of the street with the driver still in it. It appeared that it had just struck a vehicle in front of it. The 51-year-old Anacortes woman who was driving the vehicle showed obvious signs of intoxication. She refused to comply with officer’s directions, was arrested, and was removed from her vehicle, arrested and taken to the station for a breath test.
A resident in the 800 block of Commercial Ave. reported that his silver 15-speed Roadmaster bicycle was taken from the rear of his apartment building sometime last weekend. The bicycle is valued at $100.
An industrial mirror used to see vehicles outside of a building was taken from a business in the 1600 block of Commercial Ave. The mirror was valued at $300.
Wednesday, October 13
A man reported to police that his laptop had been stolen 2 days ago. He said he was in a business in the 2300 block of Commercial Ave. and left his laptop open on a table for a short period of time. When he returned his Dell laptop was missing. The laptop is valued at $2,000.
A woman reported to officers that her unlocked vehicle was prowled earlier in the evening outside of her business in the 1000 block of 21st St. A camera, iPod, cash, identification, and jewelry were taken. The woman had seen a suspicious teenager who entered the business but quickly left. Officers followed up on the lead, located the teenager, and recovered some of the items. The 14-year-old Anacortes boy was booked into juvenile detention for theft.
Thursday, October 14
A resident in the 1600 block of 14th St. reported a Play Station game system and a HP laptop were stolen from a teenagers bedroom during the day while he was at school. There was no forced entry into the residence.
Friday, October 15
A 46-year-old Anacortes woman was arrested for assault 4 domestic violence after officers responded to a complaint in the 4000 block of “R” Ave. On arrival they contacted the woman’s boyfriend who had a swollen lump under his eye. The man claimed the woman had thrown a vase at him and kicked him in the face during an argument. The woman had left the residence but later returned and was arrested.
Saturday, October 16
A resident in the 900 block of 25th St. reported a prowler had rattled windows and woken him up. Officers checked the residence and found that 2 window screens had been removed and it appeared that someone had tried to enter the residence. Officers are following up with physical evidence located at the scene.
