Here are some of the other cases Anacortes Police worked this week.

Friday, July 30

Two boats were prowled in a west end marina overnight.  A flat screen television from one of the boats was found on the dock.  Four bottles of liquor were also taken. 

Saturday, July 31

A 26-year-old Anacortes man was arrested for DUI after an officer observed him driving his vehicle on the shoulder of the road on 3rd St. and then fail to stop at 3rd and Q Ave..  The man failed physical sobriety tests, was arrested, and transported to the police department for a breath test. 

Four teenagers were arrested for MIP/MIC after a resident in the 1300 block of 10th St. reported hearing noises from a detached garage.  Police discovered four teenagers inside the garage.  They had all been drinking.  The garage belonged to the grandparents of one of the boys.

A 22-year-old Anacortes woman and 28-year-old Anacortes man were both arrested following a reported domestic in the 800 block of 27th St.. The woman reported that the father of her 11-month old baby was causing problems.  Officer’s contacted him near her home and he told them he had gone to visit his son and discovered that the child’s mother was drunk and unable to care for the baby.  He tried to take the child but the woman reportedly slapped him and threw a TV remote control at him. He was arrested for outstanding warrants.   Officer’s contacted the woman who was intoxicated and admitted to striking the man.  She was arrested for assault 4th DVPA and the baby was left in the care of a relative.  The matter has been forwarded to Child Protective Services for review. 

Sunday, August 1

A 26-year-old woman was arrested for DUI in the 900 block of 11th St. after an officer observed her vehicle traveling at 35 miles an hour in the 25 mph zone in the downtown area of Q Ave..  The officer recognized the woman from a group of people he had observed milling around in front of an establishment in the 300 block of Commercial Ave. earlier. The officer noted at the time that several members of the group appeared intoxicated.  The woman failed field sobriety tests, arrested and taken to the police department for a BAC. 

A 6 hp Suzuki outboard was taken from a boat in dry storage on Cabana Ln. sometime between July 18th and July 31. Officers are following up on reports that outboards were missing from other boats inside the yard too.

Officers arrested 6 people and 2 more arrests are pending following a juvenile party in the 1300 block of Broadview Dr.  Officers responded to neighbors’ complaints of noise and juveniles drinking at the residence.  Responding officers were met by intoxicated adults who screamed obscenities at them as they tried to process the juveniles that were present for MIP/MIC.  Two adults were arrested for disorderly conduct and charges against the absent landlord and the 25-year-old woman who occupies the house are pending.  In 2008 the police filed charges against the homeowner for allowing a public nuisance because of the numerous complaints about the occupants of the residence. 

Monday, August 2

Officers arrested 3 people as a result of a malicious mischief at Whitney School.  A 15-year-old Anacortes boy, a 19-year-old and 22-year-old man were arrested after police received a complaint they were removing picnic tables from the school yard and placing them on 12th St.  When officers contacted the men they fled on foot but were eventually caught and arrested. 

Tuesday, August 3

Police received a report that tires on two vehicles parked in the 1100 block of 9th St. had been punctured overnight.  The replacement value of the tires was estimated at $750. 

A women’s clothing store in the 500 block of Commercial Ave. reported 2 shoplifters had made of with a form fitting undergarment valued at $42.  The business owner confronted the 2 women outside the business and they denied the theft. The women left the area prior to police arrival. 

Another theft from a boat in a west end marina was reported.  A man reported to police that he was last on his boat on August 23.  He did not secure the boat as he left in a hurry.  When he returned today he discovered binoculars, a GPS, an AM FM Stereo, and an inflatable raft were missing. 

Neighbors in the 900 block of 4th reported hearing a woman being beaten in an apartment on the second floor of an apartment building east of Commercial Ave.  On arrival the man had disappeared, but police talked to a woman and her 6-year-old son in the apartment.  The woman confirmed there had been a physical confrontation but did not know where the man had gone. A short time later another resident advised police that the man had entered an air duct in the building and was hiding.  He was subsequently contacted by police, admitted to assaulting the woman and was arrested for felony violation of a no contact order.  This was the 5th time since April the man had been arrested for domestic violence.  A $250,000 bail was placed on the man by the court.

Thursday, August 5

The staff at a west end marina discovered two more boats in dry storage had been prowled.  An 8 hp Yamaha and 5 hp Mercury outboard are missing from the boats.  No further information is available at press time. 

A 50-year-old Anacortes man was arrested for DUI following a routine traffic stop in the 1100 block of 32nd St.  An officer pulled over the vehicle to let the driver know that his rear tail lights were out.  Before the officer could say anything the man said that he had no driver’s license or insurance.  The officer observed the man also appeared intoxicated.  He was arrested and transported to the Police Department for a breath test

Friday, August 6

A resident in the 3900 block of Broadview returned home from work to discovered their home had been entered an a flat screen TV valued at $500.00 was missing.  It appeared the house had been entered through a bathroom window.  Police are following up on leads.
