The order prohibited the man from contacting the woman or from being within 100 feet of her apartment. The woman told an officer that the man had been pounding on her apartment window demanding his public assistance food card. The woman said that she threw the card outside through an open window, but the man continued to walk around outside and peer in her windows. Police searched for the man unsuccessfully, but charges are pending for violating the court order.
A 24-year-old man was taken to the emergency room for evaluation and treatment after he unsuccessfully tried to hang himself at a home in the 500 block of 4th Street. Family members had found the man gasping on the floor after the ligature around his neck had snapped from his body weight.
A 46-year-old Anacortes man was booked into jail on domestic violence assault and malicious mischief charges after he allegedly attacked a male roommate with a screwdriver and smashed a hole in the front windshield of the roommate’s pickup at a home in the 2000 block of I Avenue. The suspect had reportedly been asked to leave the house after he allegedly got into the refrigerator and was eating all the Thanksgiving food. The suspect eventually left, but not before swearing at and threatening the other people at the house. Witnesses then heard a noise outside and saw the suspect using a screw driver to “stab” the windshield of the roommate’s pickup. When the roommate went outside to try to stop the suspect, the suspect allegedly swung the screwdriver at the roommate and scratched the roommate’s elbow. The roommate then punched the suspect in the face in self defense. The suspect had also allegedly pushed his girlfriend and knocked her to the ground when she tried to get the suspect to leave. The girlfriend told officers that alcohol played a large part in the incident as the suspect was intoxicated.
