Arrest in missing man case

Sheriff's Deputies arrested, Michiel Glen Oakes of Kennewick and charged him with 2nd degree murder in connection with the disappearance of 57-year old T. Mark Stover, owner of Island K-9 Training, a dog training business.

The arrest affidavit said when deputies went to Stover's home, they found blood on the front porch and in a bedroom and hallway. Later Thursday, they found Stover's station wagon at the Northern Lights Casino with bloody smears on it. The car keys were on the seat along with a pair of glasses and a typed letter, the contents of which weren't revealed.

Oakes was arrested at the Winthrop home of Stover's ex-wife, Linda Opdycke, who had a protection order issued against her ex-husband in April, 2008. When she discovered that her ex-husband was missing, she called the Okanogan County Sheriff's Office.

When the suspect retrieved a plastic grocery bag from his car, deputies discovered it contained a .22 semi-automatic pistol. The bag smelled of bleach. They also found a 9mm handgun on the suspect.

It's unclear if the body of the missing man was found.
