Sportscaster Bill O'Mara dies at 92

O’Mara move to Seattle in the late 1940‘s from the Midwest and soon became KING-TV’s first sports director. At KING, O'Mara did play-by-play for Seattle Rainiers games - but he became synonymous with Seattle's first "major league" sport - the hydroplane races. O'Mara called the Seafair races from 1951-1959 for KING-TV.

He died early Saturday morning of cancer and pneumonia at Stevens Hospital in Edmonds. O'Mara is survived by his five children.

No service is planned, pursuant to his wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a gift to: The Unlimited Hydroplane Museum, 5917 S. 196th St., Kent, WA 98032.
