A pilot practicing touch-and-go landings crashed and flipped over at Anacortes Airport on Friday. The pilot, the only person on board, walked away with only minor injuries.

Fire Chief Richard Curtis said, “Apparently either the brakes failed or the plane touched a bit too hard.”

Curtis said when fire and rescue crews reached the airport, the plane had been flipped back upright. He said the pilot refused medical treatment.

The incident happened at about 1:30 Friday afternoon. The airport was closed briefly while debris was cleared from the runway.

A  touch-and-go landing is where the pilot lands the plane, then quickly takes off without stopping.
