Near drowning victim improving

Since the incident he has shown steady improvement. Friday, his family reported that he is doing very well, and will likely be removed from the intensive care unit soon.

Chileren's Hospital in Seattle lists his condition as stable and improving. The likelihood of a full recovery is reportedly very high.

Last Saturday, the Oak Harbor boy was swimming in Little Cranberry Lake in Anacortes with friends when he became exhausted and nearly drowned.

After being underwater for several minutes, he was pulled from the lake by some nearby adults. Unconscious, and without a pulse, he was pulled to the shore where citizens immediately began CPR.  Within a few minutes they were joined by an Anacortes Police Officer, and then a medic crew from the Anacortes Fire Department.

The boy was taken initially to Island Hospital, then flown to Children’s Hospital in Seattle listed in critical condition.
