Gere leads in donations & spending

As of Wednesday, restaurateur Laurie Gere has raised $18,582 and spent $12,910 on the race. Here major donors include: Kerry Allen, listed as retired, who donated $900; John Hein, listed as vice-president of Action Pages, who donated $700; and Michael Menor, listed as retired, who has donated $700.

Businessman Mitch Everton has spent $9,995, having raised $15,229, but he has put $8,250 of his own money into the campaign. His major donors include: Bud Anderson, retired, who donated $900; Jackie Anderson, owner of Cottage Hobby House, who donated $900; David Budd of San Francisco, a physician, who has donated $899; and, Kevin McCarthy of San Francisco, retired, who donated $899.

Incumbent Dean Maxwell has raised $11,873 and spent $6,775. He counts as his major donors: Frontier Building Supply, which donated $900; Jack Fuller of Calgary, Alberta, retired, who has donated $750; Marlene Fuller, also of Calgary, who has donated %750.

City Council member Brian Geer has received the least in campaign contributions, totaling $3,175, including $60 of his own money. He has spent $2,267, so far. Among his major donors: Martin Iverson, physician assistant, who has donated $900.

Ballots went in the mail on Tuesday for the primary, slated for August 6. The two largest vote-getters will advance to the general election.
