Anderson left Anacortes on January 6 to meet an acquaintance in the Arlington area driving a white 1999 Ford Ranger pickup truck, apparently looking to buy a prescription painkiller from contacts.
Anderson's truck was located several miles up a rough dirt logging road high-centered on a log or stump, with the keys locked in the car. Anacortes Police Chief Bonnie Bowers said, at the time, "Nothing in the vehicle suggested that foul play was involved." But, his brother, Chris, told the Anacortes American recently, "We really think there was some foul play, but we need something to prove it."
An Anacortes Police spokesman said that nothing new has turned up since the discovery of the truck, but they remain in close contact with the county Sheriff's Department, which was the lead agency in the official search for Anderson. That search was called off in early February, nearly a month after his disappearance.
Family and friends continue to raise money for a reward and have established a Web site to collect donations. Fliers about his disappearance continue to be posted around town and on the ferries in the Anacortes-San Juans route.
