Robinson told Anacortes Now "I'm hoping that by ten end of this week, we'll be able to open the trestle. It depends on whether volunteers can finish the planking and fencing." Clearly, Robinson didn't want to be tied down because, he said, "If it rains, I can't say to volunteers 'you've worked hard, now work in the rain.'"
As for an official ceremony thanking all the volunteers and people who contributed more than $300,000, Robinson said he's working on scheduling an event in June to be followed by a separate event to raise the healing pole which has been carved for the trestle.
A fire of undetermined original damaged about 300 feed of the trestle, a popular route across Fidalgo Bay, last October. The trestle is part of the Tommy Thompson Parkway, a former railroad route now paved from downtown Anacortes to March Point.
