In a news release, Tesoro said 36-year-old Donna Van Dreumel died from her injuries. She had been an employee since 2001. "Our deepest sympathy goes out to her husband, James, and to her entire family," the release said.
Earlier Friday evening, Tesoro announced the identities of the other injured employees: Matt Gumbel - 34, employed since 2007; and Lew Janz - 41, employed since 2000. They are being treated in the burn unit at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
In a news release, the company said, "Tesoro is in the process of establishing funds for all the families affected and will release information on how people may contribute in the near future. The company is working on further plans to support the spouses and children of our co-workers during this difficult time."
Members of Tesoro’s Executive Management, including CEO Bruce Smith and COO Everett Lewis, were scheduled to arrive Saturday morning to assess the situation personally and meet with Tesoro's workers and community leaders.
