The National Weather Service is forecasting a low of 27 Saturday night in Anacortes and lows of 20 degrees for the next two nights. Daytime highs may not get above freezing until Wednesday.
The city still doesn't have a snow plow and the lack of a snow plow last December let ice build up on top of a snow fall on many city streets. The Anacortes School District loaned the city their snow plow, but a bit too late to prevent the ice.
According to Mayor Dean Maxwell, the Port has indicated a willingness to work with the city this winter if the city needs a snowplow. The Port purchased the snowplow to help maintain the airport runways.
The weather service says an arctic cold front will move through the area Saturday night, bringing colder temperatures and windy conditions. The weather service said there is a chance of snow showers Saturday night, but moisture is limited and there should be no significant accumulations. They said the cold and wind will continue Sunday.
