Heat wave to continue

But, the weather service says temperatures coulld hit 95 in Burlington and Mount Vernon on Wednesday, currently predicted as the warmest day this week.

The National Weather Service has issued what they're calling an Excessive Heat Warning for areas to the south of Skagit County, with high temperatures forecast to hit the mid-90's. The weather service says there will be high humidity and only light breezes.

Meanwhile, Anacortes will be restricting open fires in designated camping facilities in the City limits due to the expected high temperature and low humidity predictions. Campfires in designated camping facilities will no longer be permitted to use firewood for open fires. Alternatively, campers may use charcoal briquettes, or commercially available pressed wood products. This will be re-evaluated each week based on fire conditions.

Fire chief Richard Curtis said "We urge campers to be cognizant of the drying conditions in and around our recreational resources and observe the restrictions." As a reminder, recreational fires are currently not allowed on private property within the City except for the use of compressed gas or charcoal briquettes.
