Students negative for swine flu

Earlier this week, when the two students exhibited flu-like symptoms, a school nurse separated them from the class, then sent them home. Then all the students, who are in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing program, were sent home.

Borgen said one of the students had recently returned from Mexico.

Borgen told the school board Thursday night that he encourages parents of children that show signs of the flu should keep the students home.

He said he intends to keep the schools open, but any student with flu symptoms will be sent home after a nurse take a swab. The swab will be sent to Island Hospital for testing.

Any staff or students coming back from Mexico through the 4th of May will be told to stay home for 72 hours. They cannot return without a note from their doctor.
