Arts Festival spokeswoman Rita James says the arts festival is using about $4,000 it has raised in the past couple of Art Dash races to pay for what she called a"a big public art." And, she added "We felt it would be appropriate to put it on the trestle."
The festival, along with the city's Parks and Recreation Department, decided on an arch. James described the arch as an asian-style arch with open metal work attached to wooden beams. She said it will include old railroad ties.
And, James said "The word 'we' will be featured in different languages at the bottom of the arch." It will be placed at the west end of the trestle, on the Tommy Thompson Parkway.
The have been hoping to have it in place for this year's Art Dash, on July 31, but she said it may not happen until later in the summer.
