Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Road Runner, Mr. Magoo, Yogi Bear, The Jetsons,Beany & Cecil....animator Bob Abrams knows them all personally.Abrams, who is a La Conner resident, will share his experiences in apresentation this week at the library.
Bob spent his career as an artist in the golden age of Hollywood animation, working with legendary studios like Disney, Hanna/Barbera, and Warner Bros. His filmography includes "Sleeping Beauty," "Paul Bunyan," and cartoon shorts whose characters are deeply rooted in the American imagination. He was inducted into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 1968 while at Warner Bros.
Beginning his animation career with Disney in Burbank, CA in the 1950s, he also began a parallel career as a fine artist. His work has been shown in galleries across the country and is included in collections on three continents. His lithograph for the International Museum for 20th Century Art is on display at the United Nations in New York City.
In this creative presentation, Bob shares insights into the inner-workings of Hollywood, discusses the evolution of film animation, and offers examples of his own artwork, complete with a cartooning demonstration. It doesn't get any more magical than this!
