An Anacortes police officer caught a man driving 75 miles an hour on T Ave., which is only a dozen blocks long, last Thursday, May 21.

The School Board Thursday night okayed cutting another 20 employees. The latest round of cuts are so-called ‘classified’ staffers who are not teachers or administrators.

The Anacortes Schools Foundation presented more than 40 scholarships valued at more than $52,000 during a ceremony Wednesday night.

Filing forms are now available for offices up for election this year, including those of the Mayor, 4 City Council members, all of whom say they will seek re-election.

The city will close the main entrance to the city, where highway 20 meets Commercial Ave., for a month this summer to construct a roundabout. 

Police were called to break up a fight between two groups of women outside a bar on Highway 20 on May 9.
