The School Board and County elections official David Cunningham reviewed 2 different timelines for replacing Anderson on the School Board. One timeline is for a replacement
to sit until the general election on Nov. 3. The other timeline is for candidates for election in November.
Cunningham indicated the Auditor’s Office, which runs elections in the county, would hold a 3-day filing period for candidates, probably in the third week of July. All candidates would face off in the general election with no run-offs. He said it is too late to add candidates to the primary election.
Meanwhile, School Board president Kris Lytton said the Board would advertise the Board vacancy as early as July 1, with a 30-day filing period to start on that date. Board members would screen candidates and narrow the list down to 2 or 3 candidates for interviews.
School Board interviews would be held on Aug. 20 with the winner announced on Aug. 24. The replacement would serve until the Nov. 3 election is certified.
