A 16-year-old Anacortes boy was apparently traveling too fast when he turned his car from Sunset Avenue onto Skyline Way in the last week. The boy lost control of the car and it rolled over. 

Trawler Fest, with hundreds of boaters, is in town through the weekend. It’s an annual boat show which includes displays of long-range powerboats and some exhibits on land.

The school district has named Michael Stark the winner of the annual Walter A. Brodniak Cultural Education Award. 

The 4-piece old-time string band The Tallboys bring their traditional fiddle tune and mountain songs to Anacortes this Friday evening.

Anacortes home sales are still below a year ago, but continuing a rebound started last month. Prices are still low here, too.

The School Board made the decision to cut teacher staffing, a decision that one board member called “the most difficult decision.”
