Careful is the big word around this enormous crane which is setting the first of 39 units on a trailer.  The trailer then creeps over to a spot within reach of another huge crane which loads each house unit onto a barge.

The Port of Anacortes will break ground Friday on a $20 million toxic clean-up an area south of Cap Sante Marina and the waterfront at Seafarers Memorial Park. The Port will host a community barbeque after the ground breaking.

Construction on the new roundabout where highway 20 meets Commercial Ave. will start on June 22, with an anticipated completion by Aug. 6.

A number of vehicles were discovered to have been "egged" in the Skyline area on Sunday, May 31. An empty egg carton was found at the corner of Doon and Cay Ways and the matter is under investigation.

Mayor Dean Maxwell cut the ribbon officially opening the new Community Garden, located on city land between 28th and 29th streets at Q Ave. Several dozen citizens attended the opening of the 8,000 sq. foot garden Saturday morning.

There will be no opposition for a large number of local candidates for this fall's election, including incumbents at the City Council, School Board, Pool District and Hospital District.
