Fourth of July fireworks will be handled by an Oregon company this year because John Curtis has decided to end his 15-year run handling Anacortes’ fireworks displays.

The Anacortes Small Boat Center group has elected their first officers, including treasurer Jack Richardson, secretary Beth Bell and President John Pope, shown here. Pat Barrett was elected Vice-President. 

There are 3 positions up for election on the South Fidalgo Community Council, which represents the unincorporated areas of Fidalgo Island.

Little Blue Whale is a new novel by Oregon author and local police chief Ken Lewis which follows a small town police department’s efforts to solve a series of unusual murder cases. This is a good summertime read.
