Priscilla and Frank Michaud, owners of The Store, say they've seen a dramatic drop in business since roundabout construction is blocking easy access to the south end of Commercial Ave.

The School District says it will re-hire 5 teachers who were recently laid off as part of a budget cutting move. Meanwhile, the School Board approved $23,000 in cuts to the School Superintendent's compensation package.

The School Board has accepted the resignation of member Chris Anderson, who resigned to take a position on the Board of Directors for Trinity Lutheran College in Everett. The School Board also announced plans to search for a replacement.

A plan to build a 5-building mixed-use complex where the temporaryoff-leash dog park is located on Ninth St. passed the City Planning Commission Wednesday night and will now go on to the City Council.

SRV Construction is busy digging up the old roadway at the Commercial Ave.-Hwy 20 intersection here. The intersection is scheduled to be closed for the month of July.

Citing “personal issues,” Chris Anderson has submitted his resignation to the Anacortes School Board. Anderson was first elected to the school board in November, 2003.
