Anacortes Community Theatre brings a bit of fluff and fun to the stage starting this weekend in 'Nunsense.'

Police believe that a man suspected of robbing a local drug store two weeks ago hit again Wednesday, robbing another drug store. Police released this sketch of the earlier robbery suspect.

State Rep. Jeff Morris says, of the Sidney ferry service, “It’s not a done deal, but it’s looking like a done deal.” He says the international run is mandated in both the state House and Senate budgets for the coming two years.  

The odds of keeping the Anacortes-to-Sidney, BC, ferry afloat are improving. Democrats in the state House of Representatives have joined the Senate and included the ferry route in their proposed budget. The House budget was released today.

The ferries in the San Juan Islands will continue to operate this week with reduced capacity and motorists heading to the islands should arrive at the Anacortes ferry terminal early.

Dozens of ferry supporters caught the first Anacortes-to-Sidney ferry run of the season and turned it into a celebration. They rolled out a banner during a stopover at Friday Harbor.

Early Friday morning, Mar. 27, officers stopped a suspiciously dressed man in the 2100 block of Commercial Ave. after receiving several calls that he was walking up the road wearing some type of mask covering his face.

The school district could face a $4 million shortfall for the coming school year, according to school Superintendent Chris Borgen. He called it a “worst-case scenario.” 

The Senate has released a proposed 2009-11 transportation budget that includes funding for local highways and continues service on the Anacortes-Sidney Ferry.
