Local pharmacy robbed

2009-0320_drug_robbery.jpgAnacortes Police are searching for an armed robbery suspect who, they say, robbed a drug store in the 1400 block of Commercial Ave of an undisclosed amount of prescription medications.

Police released this composite drawing of the suspect and are asking for the public’s help.

According to the police, he walked into the pharmacy a few minutes after 5 pm Thursday and presented a note telling the pharmacy staff to give him a specific prescription narcotic.  The suspect also briefly displayed what appeared to be a metallic handle of an unknown type of weapon. After being given an undisclosed amount of the drug, the man fled on foot.  A Skagit County Sheriff’s Office canine unit assisted Anacortes officers in searching the area, but the suspect was not located.

The suspect was described as a white male in his mid to late twenties with a very pale complexion, approximately 5'06" to 5'08" in height with a medium build, hazel or brown eyes, very short dark hair, and unshaven with a couple of days growth of beard.  He was reported to be wearing a dark colored GoreTex style jacket with some writing on the chest area and a dark colored hood. The jacket was zipped up high with the hood surrounding the suspect’s head.

Anyone with any possible suspect information is asked to call the Anacortes Police Department at 360-293-4684, or the Anacortes Police tip-line at 360-299-1985.
