One dead in Anacortes shooting incident

Officers arrested the 20-year-old Anacortes woman Thursday evening, Aug. 25, after a 52-year-old man was shot in the 800 block of 30th Street.

The shooting occurred during an alleged domestic-violence incident involving the woman’s 43-year-old mother and the mother’s boyfriend. The man later died from his injury after being transported to Island Health. The mother was not injured.

Officers responded after a neighbor called 911 and reported that a male had been shot and that a female was running on foot toward Commercial Avenue. She returned shortly after and called 911.

The 20-year-old woman was booked into Skagit County jail on an investigative hold for first-degree murder.

This incident remains under active investigation.
