An officer was dispatched to the lot Friday afternoon as multiple reporting parties called dispatch to report that their cars’ windows had been broken and items had been taken from their vehicles.
The thieves ended up using several of the stolen credit cards at businesses around town following the thefts.
The Anacortes Police Department has two persons of interest in this case, and the investigation is ongoing as we attempt to identify the suspects.
As the weather continues to be favorable for outdoor activities, it’s important to keep in mind that car prowlers are often very brazen in their thefts, and even locking car doors isn’t always enough to deter such thieves.
Remember to remove all valuables from your vehicle before parking it and leaving it unattended. Locking your car is always a good first line of defense.
