The Anacortes Police Department, in an effort to expand a dialog with citizens, has launched accounts on Facebook and Twitter.

Police Chief Bonnie Bowers said they had been considering it for a long time. Acknowledging that people get their information from a variety of social media, she said Facebook, especially, gives people another avenue to raise concerns or praise the police department.

“We are trying to reach as many people as we can so we can warn them about recent scams, advise them of traffic hazards, and hopefully use them to help identify suspects when we need help,” she said.

Their Facebook page is ‘Anacortes Police Department’.
Their Twitter account is ‘AnacortesPd’.

When visiting their Facebook site, please pay special attention to the Page Info portion of the sight which includes terms and conditions of posts for readers as well as pertinent facts about our agency.
