Police Beat

Fire destroyed a car and the garage the care was in at a home in the 5400 block of Sunset Ave. Friday morning, according to the Anacortes Fire Department.

The call came in at around 10:15 am from the homeowner, who was working on his car in the garage when the car caught fire. He was unable to stop the fire, then he called 911. Fire crews from Anacortes and Mt. Erie fire departments responded.

It took about 30 minutes to put the fire out, according to Jack Kennedy, a division chief with the Anacortes Fire Deparment.

The garage was not attached to the home, helping to prevent the fire from spreading beyond the garage. No was was injured.
