Police make arrest in tire slashing incidents

Over 60 tires were punctured on six different occasions. Additional cars in the adjacent senior housing parking lot and National Guard armory were also vandalized. Disabling a police car is a felony. Physical evidence linked the man to the crimes.

Police expect that he will be formally charged later this week.

In October, 2013, a K9 officer from the Mount Vernon Police Department responded and tracked a suspect to the west side of the Police station, but no one was located. In September a similar incident occurred.

Damage to the cars was in excess of $3,000. Damaging emergency response vehicles is a felony in Washington.
