Members of the Anacortes Police Department, Anacortes Auxiliary Patrol and the Search and Rescue units from Skagit and Snohomish Counties conducted a search Friday morning of the northeast portion of downtown Anacortes in an effort to locate Missing Person William Landers.
On January 28, 2013, Anacortes Police were dispatched to conduct a welfare check on Landers at the Harbor House in Anacortes, as William’s neighbors had reported that they had not seen him for several days. Officers responded and received no answer when they knocked at William’s door, so they ended up entering William’s apartment and were not able to locate him.
William had dementia and according to his neighbors is not the type to disappear. William was on medication to treat his disease, but Officers found William’s medication containers inside his apartment. It also appeared as though William had not been taking his medication as prescribed.
From speaking with staff at the Harbor House and William’s neighbors, Officers learned that William’s only family, a sister, lives in Seattle. She advised that she too had not heard from William for several days.
Sgt. Lou D'Amelio said, "The Anacortes Police Department would like to thank everyone who participated in the effort to locate Mr. Landers over the past several days."
