Police searching for missing man

Officers responded and received no answer when they knocked at William’s door, so they ended up entering William’s apartment and were not able to locate him. Attempts to locate William continued today, January 29, and Officers were again unable to locate William or any leads that may help identify his whereabouts.

William has dementia and according to his neighbors is not the type to disappear. William takes medication to treat his disease, but Officers found William’s medication containers inside his apartment. It also appeared as though William had not been taking his medication as prescribed.

From speaking with staff at the Harbor House and William’s neighbors, Officers learned that William’s only family, a sister, lives in Seattle. She advised that she too had not heard from William for several days.

As of this communication, APD Officers have checked all Skagit county hospitals and learned that William has not been admitted to either one. Officers have also had checked Lander’s cell phone which did not produce any new leads, as William has not used the phone in the past 48 hours.

William does not own a vehicle, so he would likely be traveling by foot or public transportation. William Landers photo is attached below. If you happen to come across him in your travels, please detain, check welfare, and notify APD. Thank you.
