Police: watch for counterfeit currency

Counterfeited US money has been turning up in several places in Skagit County recently. People are encouraged to validate bills, especially twenties or larger, to assure that they are real. (The most often counterfeited US bill is the twenty)

One of the easiest methods for testing bills is with a US Currency Counterfeit Detection Pen. With one swipe it can detect whether or not a bill is real or fake. Counterfeit detection pens are available at most Office Supply stores and run between $3.00 and $10.00 depending on brand. I checked the websites for Bayshore Office Supply, Office Depot and Office Max and found them listed on each site.

If you run across some money that appears to be fake, report it to the Police Department for closer examination.
