On December 10th at 5:30 PM a male subject entered the Anacortes Health and Nutrition Store located in the 1000 block of 7th Street. He waited for other customers to leave the store before donning a mask and approaching the front counter. Once at the counter he showed an employee a handgun, which was in the waist band of his pants. He demanded cash and the employee gave him several hundred dollars from the cash register. The suspect then fled in an unknown direction.
The suspect is described as a caucasion male in his twenties. Prior to putting on his mask it was noted that the suspect had short, reddish colored hair and that he had a fair complexion with clear skin and no facial hair. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt that zipped up the front and a pair of blue work pants that had large pockets and a loop for hanging a hammer. He was also wearing black gloves. The mask that he put on has been described as neoprene, not wool or knit. It is important to note that the involved employee did an excellent job in this case. She remained calm and provided the requested cash without escalating the situation.
The Anacortes Police Department is seeking any information that might lead to the apprehension of a suspect in this case. If you have any information that might assist in the investigation contact Sgt. Lou D'Amelio at
