She also said there were two fires that may be fireworks-related. Bowers said a vehicle owned by Chandler's Square was damaged by a fire that started Sunday night. And, a port-a-pottie was discovered burned Tuesday morning at the off-leash dog park on H ave.

"All in all, an uneventful Fourth," she said.

Mayor Dean Maxwell told the City Council that it was a very pleasant Fourth, including the parade staged by Anacortes Women of Today and the city's fireworks show. He reminded everyone that fireworks are illegal in the city and that restrictions are bound to get tougher in the future.

He suggested Anacortes residents donate to the city's fireworks show, rather than buying illegal fireworks.
