The Guemes Island ferry will continue the weekday evening runs that the county started as a test two years ago. But, the weekday runs will end at 8:30 instead of the current 10 pm.

The County Commissioners voted Tuesday to continue the controversial runs with a 2-1 vote, with Commissioner Sharon Dillon voting against the new schedule. The Commissioners also voted to reduce the number of runs on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Midnight runs on weekends will end.

The changes will take effect on Jan. 1. Here’s what the new schedule looks like:

Monday-Thursday: 6:30 am - 8:30 pm
Friday and Saturday: 6:30 am - 11:00 pm
Sunday: 8:00 am - 8:00 pm

The commissioners also voted to keep fares at the 2008 levels, but with some adjustments.
