The City Planning Commission meets Wednesday night with a new member. Stuart Janke was appointed to the Planning Commission at last week’s City Council meeting.

Janke is replacing Betty Kuehn, who had been a member for about 12 years. Mayor Dean Maxwell said “She’s served the community a long time. She has been there for a big part of it.”

Janke is a 30-year resident of Anacortes and is operations manager at Cortland Puget Sound Rope. He has also served on the Board of Adjustments. Janke was an unsuccessful candidate for City Council last year, losing out to Kevin McKeown.

Also new to the planning arena here is new City Planning Director Ryan Larsen, who is replacing long-time planning director Ian Munce. Larsen started on Sept. 2.
