The Anacortes School District will be expanding its public access hours to Rice Field during the summer as part of an effort to increase community usage of this facility.

“During the school year, the stadium and field are in constant use by our sports teams and PE classes,” said Superintendent Mark Wenzel. “We hope that expanding our public hours will allow the community to get even more use out of this beautiful facility.”

Rice Field will be open each day during July and August, Monday-Sunday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. (It will be closed July 4-5.)

“We know there are a number of folks who want to be able to walk and run on the track, or use the field for casual play,” said Erik Titus, athletics and activities director.

Restrooms will not be open during these hours, due to staffing cuts and safety concerns. Users will need to obey all posted rules including no pets, no food or beverages other than water, no bikes or skateboards. Additional rules are posted at the facility. Access is also subject to change due to district use or field rentals. Seahawk Stadium is available to rent by private groups as well.
